The American Sewing Guild meets at Elegant Stitches on the 2nd Monday evening of each month.  If you are new to the area, or if you are interested in joining, feel free to attend the meetings!
 

Amy's Finishing Touches:  Part 1 and Part 2              **New Class**
Learn slick tricks for borders, embellishments, and bindings!  You will create samples of five innovative techniques:  Haphazard Pieced Borders, Curvaceous Borders, Pieced Borders,
Couched Yard Edging and the Best Machine Binding method….Plus you will see demonstrations of an additional 4-10 finishing methods.  You do not have to take both classes
nor do you have to take them in order!

Tired of using someone else's patterns, or being at the mercy of pre-made foundations?  Do you want to crazy quilt but don't know the tricks to putting the pieces together?  This class is for the beginner or advanced quilter who doesn't have a clue how crazy quilts are made.  You will create a 17"x20" wall hanging, embellished with lace, buttons, beads and embroidery!

Crooked Log Cabin for the Precision Impaired!
This is a free-spirited technique for those who love playing with color better than they like planning every detail.  Make your own crooked log cabin "square-in-a-square" blocks by machine.  Several blocks will be completed in class.  Sewing machine required (straight stitch).

Curvaceous Houses for the Precision Impaired!
Create whimsical houses using no rulers or patterns.  Each unique house, with several surrounding borders, will be cut freehand with gentle curves using your rotary cutter.  Great embellishments (such as fusible windows, beading, couching, and yoyos) and creative machine quilting designs (such as bricks, grass, and sky) will be demonstrated.

 Heirloom sewing from an entirely new perspective! A hands on class where you will learn how to use the serger to produce elegant exquisite heirloom stitching .
Serger pintucks and gathering both lace and fabric will be an absolute breeze when you take your serger to the next level.......
.....that is the one just above finishing off all your seam allowances!!

Heirloom Serger Blouse      (Hands-on)          ** New Class**
From jeans to dinner suits, this is a top you can wear with anything.  A center panel is composed of embroidered and eyelet insertions. 
Decorative serger pintucks border the center panel.  Wide embroidered edging finishes the sleeve edges below a band of the eyelet insertion. 
The neck edge is finished with a mock piping technique using the serger rolled hem and a fabric binding.  The back neck closes with a button and loop.

Heirloom Quilt (Hands-on)
Join us in the creation of this beautiful heirloom quilt made of white and ecru laces and 100% cotton batiste.  Techniques include circular puffing, circular lace shaping, cathedral windows, machine embroidery, shadow gimpwork, shark's teeth, heart lace shaping, shaped double needle pintucks, diamond lace shaping with double needle pintucks in the center, Madeira motifs, crazy patch ovals and Normandy lace shaping.  You will construct one block every two weeks and the last two classes will be constructing and completing this beautiful heirloom.

We've had so many requests to make hair bows so we created this class!  Make custom hair bows for every outfit for that special little girl in your life!  In class you will make two styles of hair bows & a rag pony tail band.

Playtime Neighborhood in Fusible Appliqué
Learn how to create your own original houses, inspired by the houses on Amy's award-winning "Make an Appointment" quilt.  You will learn the childlike ways to draw houses with curvy roofs, funny crooked doors and windows, and loads of embellishments to make them charming.  You will learn to use fusible webbing, fabric, embroidery and numerous embellishments to make houses, and how to use them in whimsical quilts.  You will see numerous examples from Amy's quilts.  Straight stitches or satin stitching by machine can be used in the second session to sew around each piece of fused fabric.

Reversible Serger Jacket    (Hands-on)          ** New Class**
Patchwork pockets add pizzazz to this otherwise plain jacket, but there is a surprise - the jacket is reversible so you can get double the reward for half the effort!  Variations on four favorite quilt blocks - rail fence, log cabin, nine-patch, and Seminole work - are used to make the four pockets, all pieced by serger.  Construction is made easy with basic serger techniques.  Roll- back sleeves bring a little of the reverse color to the front, accenting the colors in the pockets.  Jacket will be constructed in Black linen blend/Oatmeal linen blend..
