Carter's Christening Gown

Yards and yards of lace, entredeux, and Swiss embroideries are combined with machine embroidery motifs to create this magnificent treasure. This 48" long tailored gown is suitable for either boys or girls. Its round-neck bodice has an embroidered V-shaped center bordered by entredeux-edged Swiss embroidery and a Swiss edging ruffle with an embroidered edge. The center front panel is bordered by lace insertion that angles slightly from the lower hem edge to bodice forming an inverted V shape. It has a backwards apron overlay with two rectangular pieces revealing one of the vintage embroideries peeking through from the skirt’s center. The two mirror imaged apron pieces are created by alternated embroidered squares and pinstitched lace insertion. The lower section of the center panel has alternating rows of lace insertion, Swiss edging and batiste; the remainder of the skirt is finished with a hem of three 5/8" tucks above lace insertion and Swiss edging.  Included on your CD—your directions, a power point and a PDF of color photos that coordinate with your directions. Now you can “Sew Smart” with your “That’s Sew Smart” directions.  The embroideries used are from Martha Pullen’s Vintage Collections. The collections are listed inside on the directions.
